SOJA alongside Groundation and Yerba Bruja packed the place to a sold-out crowd of 4000 people on a night that many have been saying was the best reggae concert of the year in PR- Here is what the band thought:

Puerto Rico is a special place for SOJA.  It was our first show outside of the continental u.s., and we try to come back every year.  Every year the shows get better, the fans get better. Saw some fans from the states in the audience too…Big up gomba jahbari, Yerba bruja, the whole crew. Got to kick it in Rincon for a few days and just surf, chill, so nice.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the great reception. See you all next year, way to pack el Anfi…Ease! Gracias por tu ayuda con la musica en el pasado, y por el futuro, viva puerto Rico, viva SOJA!

So happy to be back in our paradise home away from home!! We have been almost natives here for 5 years so it was good to see some old friends and meet new ones too! We love you Puerto Rico and cant wait to come back! The support from all the fans at the show was amazing! It was a dream come true that me Pat and El dreamed of since the first time we saw Los Cafres and Gomba Jahbari play in Tito Puente amfetheatro! Días en vela, días de práctica y desvela para decir que si se puede. Puerto Rico no me vio nacer, pero si crecer es un sueño que nunca soñé que se hizo vida, se hizo todo para mi la música. Representar la patria es una gran responsabilidad y represento los dos países más hermosos del universo Venezuela y Puerto Rico.
Unos de mis lugares preferidos siempre será mi hogar, mi casa. Nada como el Anfiteatro “Tito Puente” con mi gente, mis panas, mis amigos, mi familia Puerto Rico, te amo. Personas pensaran que uno vive algo que muchas desean tal vez es cierto, pero creo que en el mundo y Puerto Rico todos somos uno y cada cual tiene un propósito en la vida y esta en cada uno amar lo que uno hace para así los hijos de nuestros hijos tengan una mejor vida.
El grupo “Yerba Bruja” me vio crecer, tal vez sin ese primer paso a atreverse a lo imposible en mis comienzos en la música no estuviera donde estoy, mis bendiones familia mi agradecimiento siempre. Mis amigos de “Fijty Ston” y por su puesto a “Groundation”, gracias por ese ‘Jam section’ se botaron “mazacote”.
Gracias todas las personas que de alguna manera u otra ayudaron a que todo fuera posible, a la producción por traernos, a Carmelo por los monitores, especialmente a Carlos Rodríguez y Mr. Trevor Young,  la gente del sonido. Soljie ‘you are the best’. A todos las personas que se dieron cita fue una noche inolvidable y a uno de los mejores músicos que he conocido mi pana, mi hermano de otra madre Yamuel Marcano por subir a tarima con nosotros y atreverce al reto.
Le dedique este concierto a mi madre, mis hermanas por que sin ellas no estuviera aquí en Puerto Rico, especialmente a mi pequeño ‘Rock Star’ Sebastian, mi sobrino te amo “carajito”.

Creo que fue en 2004 que Bob (bajista) Elliott (manager) y yo fuimos a PR por primera vez de vacaciones.  Tuvimos la oportunidad de ver a Los Cafres y Gomba Jahbari juntos en el Anfi. Nos soprendio muchisimo la energia del publico- y el hecho que habia tanta gente unida - bailando y cantando en un show de reggae.  Estabamos pensando, “Algun dia volveremos para hacer un show de SOJA de esta magnitud.” - El sabado pasado pudimos vivir este sueño.  Gracias a toda la gente que nos ayudo a crecer en la isla. Gracias a todos los fans que han apoyado a través de los años.
Fue un placer compartir la tarima con nuestros hermanos de Groundation, Yerba Bruja, y todos los músicos talentosos que hicieron de esa noche una inolvidable. Gracias Puerto Rico nos vemos pronto!

Being our island home away from home, Puerto Rico is one of my favorite places to play. Also my favorite place to soak up the sun and good vibes of the isla del encanto. Performing at a sold out Tito Puente Ampitheater last Saturday was a long time dream we worked into a reality. Being a percussionist myself and thinking of all the legendary musicians that have graced that stage is incredible. The people were beautiful to see singing and dancing to SOJA and it was great to see old friends we’ve missed over the last year. If anyone has a chance to visit PR they should not pass it up.
I could go on and on about this incredible show and enchanted island, but I will leave it at this. Muchisima Gracia PR. Boriqua boo.
